A presell page is a page that you direct traffic to instead of directing them straight to the sales page. They are designed to provide more information to a prospect before they are hit with the sales pitch. Affiliate marketers have been using them to increase conversions with great success. Presell pages have been known to lead to conversions of 12-15% or more, depending on what you are affiliating. So I definitely recommend taking advantage of their power.

Why do they work? Because most prospects are going online to find out more information about a product. Therefore, a great presell page will help provide them with unbiased information which can help them make their buying decision. Here are two different types of presell pages that you should consider using in your marketing strategies:

Presell Page Types:

Review page: A review page is website that reviews the product that you are affiliating. There are two ways to go about doing a review page. You can just review the product you are promoting, or review a couple products in the same niche. Both can be quite effective.

To do a great review page you should really understand your product. Buy the product first and spend some time with it. Then, when you start writing the review, list all the pros and cons and make sure the review is well balanced.  Of course, if the product is completely horrible, don’t promote it at all, it is never a good idea to promote bad products as they usually have high return rates and do not sell well in general.

If you are reviewing more than one product, provide short reviews for each one. A couple pros and cons is usually fine.  Another good idea is to rank them, for example, Product X is 5 out 5, product Y is 4 out of 5, and so on. This will allow a prospect to scan your page quickly and see what product you recommend.

Testimonial page: Similar to a review page, you can use your own user testimonial as a presell page. Here, all you have to do is write about your experiences with the product. Be specific, write about the results you achieved when using it (for example, I lost 10pds in 2 weeks), and provide evidence if you can. You can also find testimonials from the products page itself if you do not have the time to do it yourself (this would be more of a case study presell page).

Five PreSell Page Rules to Follow:

There are several factors that contribute to an effective presell page that you should keep in mind when you are writing a testimonial or a review page. Here are some key rules to follow:

Focus on the pre, not the sell: Always provide unbiased information. Remember, your prospect is looking for information, not looking for a sales pitch.

Show the Benefits: Always include and highlight the key benefits that the prospect will get from purchasing the product or service. You can usually find these on the products sales page.

Make it Scan-able: Most people just scan websites, so use headings and titles. Highlight key points in bold or with larger text.

Always include your affiliate links in a few spots: First, always include your affiliate link!! I’m sure you won’t forget that. But secondly, place it in a few different spots, like at the beginning of your article and the end.

Don’t write too much: A good presell page should provide information, but not bore the reader. Too much information and you will lose their attention, just enough and they will buy like crazy.

I highly recommend using a presell page when you are involved in affiliate marketing. If you do it properly and follow these rules, you will see high conversions and increased profits. Great products come with presell tools, so be sure to check out the affiliate resource page of the product you are promoting. This could speed the process up and provide a good presell example to help you along the way.
