So now you’re convinced of the benefits of blogging. You want to set up your own business blog to ramp up your marketing. Before you rush into it, there are several factors you might want to consider, which are essential in crafting an effective business blog.

First, you should have a clear vision of what you want your blog to achieve. In line with this, you should consider how the blog will integrate with your other online or offline marketing efforts. You should also create a method of measuring how effectively your blog has met the goals you have set for it.

There are also technical aspects to think about. What blog software should you use to set up your blog? What should you name your blog, and what should its domain name be? You should try to use a descriptive domain name to make it easy to remember. Should you host the blog on your company website, or should you create a separate identity for it by hosting it on a different domain?

The blog should also have a way for visitors to receive updates, either through e-mail or RSS feeds. Of course, it should also contain links to pages where they can order your products and services. You should also include a short biography of yourself on the blog’s main page.

Equally important are the posts you will write for your blog. The posts should focus on the audience you have targeted for your blog. They should also have lots of concrete detail, which could include statistics, technical specifications and other relevant data. Photos would also be welcome. You should also update your blog regularly with new and interesting posts.

One last thing you should consider: a business blog is not the answer to all your marketing problems. It is just a tool, and it is up to you to figure out how best to use it to your business’s benefit.
