The answer has always been Google but this is rapidly changing in the world of SEO. The reason for this is that Google have a sandbox filter that will prevent any site from ranking well for very competitive terms (I have bolded this for a reason) for at least 8 months, sometimes even more.

Anyone that states they have a way around the sandbox for new sites is most likely not telling the truth as they would be instantly very rich and certainly wouldn’t share the secret. For this reason your initial focus should be on MSN and Yahoo.

Through following good SEO practices you will be building your site up for Google anyhow, it just means that you can get instant traffic and rankings from MSN and Yahoo first.

MSN should be the first search engine of choice as far as SEO goes. The reason behind this is that we can have a number 1 position for say “Dog Training” within weeks (with a competition of  over 10 million).
