Informative Ecommerce Site for India
As per www.internetworldstats.com, internet Users in India grown to 81,000,000 untill Nov 2008. India having 7% penetration (compared with its population) and where as China’s penetration rate is around 22.6%. Looking this number, its not big internet crowd but still lots companies has been started online services such that user can restrict their movement by working online.
We have seen some of the big players actually entered Ecommerce market of India and looks like this an emerging opportunity for every player. Based on the global pattern in this field, we have see two kind of players one is selling sites and other is informative site.
With current user usage, we have seen a trend that in shopping particularly buying electronics products, User does extensive research before actually buying the product. This also been seen for Indian User and to convince more on this, just look at the Indian traffic to the sites like cnet.com or gsarena.com. Both sites get around 11.3 % & 21% traffic every month from India respectively. This is not a small number as its 11.3 % of Total User visited to the site. In India, it has couple of good sites in shopping and already created a buzz but still you see they are not able to bring the international quality & research content.
Ecommerce in Country like USA has gone several miles or decades and became very matured. But one important point to be noted that these sites are particularly designed for US users. They have done extensive research of the user and designed the content such a way that it easily consumed by American User.
When we talk about cnet on Indian context its very hard for common Users of India to understand its content and presentation. Fundamentally, we see a gap for Indian Users. This motivate the trend that 11.3 % traffic are drived from India. Existing shopping sites of India are unable to facillate the informative part of shopping.
Looking all this trend few smart guys from India, came with the idea of launching shopnics.in, an informative site for Mobile. This team has already having rich experience of building shopping sites targeted for US market, shopnics.com.
The presentation and content of the shopnics.in is designed for Indian User. The site has some unique features and which help common Indian User to select a phone based on User’s own feature requirement. The sites provide a simple help button with some selection criteria terminology which is used by common people. User can select what he/she likes to do with mobile apart from the call ( Features are differentiators factor for each mobile). You can compare different mobiles side by side. You can research about each phone and for that you do not need to go any where, the site brings all the relevant data like Overview, detail specification, reviews and relevant product videos. The beauty about the site is that if you have twitter account or facebook account, you can actually consult with your friends online about the product. To buy the product, you can go to any website or you can buy from your nearest store. Shopnics.in is positioning themselves as informative sites rather than a product selling site.
