When you say that you put text links to describe the content on your homepage, what do you actually mean by this?

“When you say that you put text links to describe the content on your homepage, what do you actually mean by this?”
I think he means rather than using a link that says ‘Home’ use a link that says ‘Car Insurance’ or whatever.
I like your videos dude. Would love to see more.

Jaspsoftware,
Correct, forget the “Home” link. Use anchor text instead.

In relation to the “Home” link. Do you recommend using no follow links from all pages on a site? Does a link like “Home” not make it easier for the viewer to navigate the site?

Yes, any page on your site pointing to the home page should be no follow. That being said it should also be noted that one can go over board with seo and also get in trouble!
These days I point some links to the homepage that say home while other links use anchor text for what I am trying to rank for.
search google for “google 950 penalty” to learn more about “over optimisation”.

When someone actually learns to explain things starting from the most simple and reaching the point they all love to reach (the more complex) they will be multi millionaires in a matter of a year or two.

Thanks for your video on webmaster guidelines. What’s the max about of words you should have on a page? Some of my pages at my store I have between 700- 1000 words. You indicated 400-600 words. Lately I have been focusing on about 5 main keywords per page, and focusing on those keywords, is that a good thing or bad?
Looking forward to your reply. I will definitley be back.
Thanks, Lorena

Hi Lorena,
Thanks for leaving comments, really any amount of content is fine. The key is to use original content, and address issues that google is after.
I have a new course coming out that you might be interested in. Focuses on ranking with google using wordpress.

Great video.
In the first part you make a big deal about “text links”. Is it safe to assume that alt tags within image based links covers this idea, or is an actual text based link better for crawlers?

It’s Christmas 2009, Merry!! This is and is going to be always an assistant to blogging and go over it like I’m going to, until it’s memorized. Only for the good.
