The purpose behind doing search engine optimization ( SEO ) is to make a website to be search engine friendly which in the long run will help to get listed in the top search results presented by the search engines.  The first and foremost thing to remember is that you got to be patient.  If you think that you can start seeing results as soon as you follow SEO steps, then you are completely wrong.  You got to be patient for a minimum of 2 months.  If in case the competition is less then there is a chance to get listed early, and you can achieve your goal, i.e., first page listing/rank.

First of all, make sure that the website for which the SEO needs to be done is error free.  In SEO terminology, the term W3c validation means error free state of a website.  What is the link between SEO and the error free state?  The simple reason is that when the search engine’s crawlers visit your website and if there is any broken link or there is errors in coding or scripts, it will tend to take it negatively.  Just imagine that you are going to buy a car from a particular car dealer and on the test drive, the steering rod breaks down, how would you feel?  Would you suggest the car dealer’s name to anybody?  Just like that if your website is having errors, then the search engines would tend to treat it as a case of “a car with a broken steering rod” and simply will not list your website anywhere for specific keywords used.

After making the website error free, there are crucial processes that needs to be followed such as setting up Google Analytics and Webmaster, perform keyword analysis, competition analysis, manual directory submission, link building, participating in social forums, submitting articles/blogs, search engine submission, etc.  If you follow the mentioned processes rigorously and religiously, you will achieve the ultimate SEO goal – first-page listing in leading search engines.

Having your website listed in the first page of leading search engines would prove to be a definitive edge over your competitors, and it is up to you to convert the huge horde of visitors to customers.
