I’m sometimes surprised when I see new contextual advertising systems. Google has such a great product in AdSense and dominates the market so much that I wonder what makes entrepreneurs think they can compete with it. I’m even more surprised when I see that some of those systems are actually pretty good.
WidgetBucks is one of those systems Like AdSense
WidgetBucks can figure out what your site is about, search through its inventory of products and serve ads that match your content. (Unlike AdSense though, you can also turn off the matching system and pick product categories yourself.) The ads usually pay on a cost-per-click basis (CPC) but can also pay cost-per-mille (CPM – earning from thousand impression) — or according to the number of times an ad is shown depending on the user. And its ad units look like nothing you’ve ever seen.
While Widgetbucks widgets might owe something to Chitika’s eMinimalls, with product pictures and neat animation, they pack in many more products. Instead of showing just one or two items, the ads show a list of ten different products the user might be interested in. If the user clicks on just one of them, you get paid.
That list might not sound like a huge deal but it really does help the ad unit blend into the page. Even though the unit as a whole might look like an ad, it contains so much product information that it goes a long way towards merging into the site and looking like content. I’ve been playing around with WidgetBucks for some time now, and I’ve been very pleased with the results. So I got in touch with the people behind it and asked them what publishers can do to make the most of their service.
What Makes WidgetBucks Differences?
With WidgetBucks, you can start earning more money today — and keep your focus on publishing.
- Diversified revenue: two income streams from the same ad space through WidgetBucks’ hybrid CPM display and CPC shopping ad combination
- WidgetBucks’ flagship vertical — shopping ad widgets — display products based on the buying trends of 100 million U.S. shoppers.
- Spanning hundreds of categories and millions of products, WidgetBucks’ CPC-based shopping ad widgets give site visitors eye-catching designs to attract their attention and clicks.
- WidgetBucks ad is fortified with YieldSense (TM), smart, proprietary advertising technology that automatically analyzes, displays and rotates the highest-yielding content into a publisher’s site to pay the highest possible eCPM and maximize publisher earnings.
Widgetbucks is an Adsense alternative. My advice to you is not to running both widgetbucks and adsense in the same page unless you double confirm with Google Adsense to meet their rules.
